Bono, singer for the incredibly overrated band U2, has spoken in the past about the need for countries around the world to address climate change.

U2 is currently on tour.  It takes 200 trucks to haul the stage and equipment for the performances.

What does 200 trucks do for global warming?  What about an unnecessary concert tour?

Isn’t it nice that people who pollute more in a month than the average person does in a lifetime are going to tell us to be more concerned about carbon dioxide emissions and global warming?

The reason given by Democrats for the need for caps on carbon dioxide emissions is to reduce the amount of CO2 going into the atmosphere every year because it causes planetary warming.

So why then are Democrats going to allow the importing of carbon offsets from developing countries?

The plan of Senate Democrats John Kerry of Massachusetts and Barbara Boxer of California sets an initial limit on international offsets of 500 million tons a year, compared with 1 billion tons in the House plan.

Let’s get this straight:  if businesses can’t operate within the government allowed limits for carbon dioxide emissions, they can release more CO2 into the environment by buying credits from foreigners.

Won’t this just send American money overseas to buy mythical carbon offsets to combat mythical global warming?

At least when we send money overseas to buy oil, we get something tangible that can be used to produce other things.  With the Democrats’ scheme, we get nothing but imaginary offsets to an imaginary problem.

And, if we allow companies to buy the ability to release more carbon dioxide, doesn’t this defeat the purpose of carbon caps in the first place?  What, really, is this scheme going to do to reduce CO2 emissions?  Nothing.

Democrat Senator John Kerry, in an interview with the Washington Post, insists that the carbon cap and trade legislation he and Barbara Boxer have drafted to combat mythical global warming is not a tax.

Uh huh, right.

Kerry further admits that cap and trade will raise costs for consumers.  Kerry said the following:

In fact, what we’re trying to do is cushion any impact on any industry that might have to raise its rates, and so that’s why we give a rebate to citizens, to make up for that difference.

At least Kerry admits that price inflation will occur as costs from this bill are passed-along to consumers.

But where is this rebate money going to come from?  Will it be borrowed from future generations?  There has to be some tax revenue somewhere to pay for it.

Cap and trade may not impose a direct tax, but it imposes all kinds of indirect taxes.  The cost of energy will rise.  This will impact every man, woman, and child in the country as the cost of every product in every store will rise.  The cost of home energy use will rise, too.

Businesses will have an indirect tax not just in having to buy carbon allowances, but in employee costs to comply with this bill.  Then, businesses that sell excess carbon allowances will be taxed on the profits they make from selling them.

The government is going to impose a cost on industry then give people “rebates” to partially offset the higher costs they experience because of this bill.  That money has to come from somewhere.

The goal of the Democratic Party all along has been to get everyone dependent on the government.  They will raise the cost of everything then send people a “rebate” check which will not come close to offsetting price increases.

But what will economy-wide price increases do to jobs?  It will kill them.  As prices rise, aggregate demand declines.  When demand goes down, jobs are lost.

We came off one of the coolest summers in recorded history.  Last year was below average in temperture, too.  But that isn’t stopping greedy Democrat trial lawyers from pressing ahead with class action lawsuits against coal burning electricity generators and others.

A public nuisance lawsuit against coal burning utility companies.  A class action lawsuit against oil, coal, chemical and insurance companies blaming them for property damages related to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  It was their carbon dioxide emissions that contributed to “climate change” and magnified the impact of the storm so says the litigants, as if there have never been severe hurricanes before.  And there is an Alaskan coastal town suing ExxonMobil and oil, coal, and electric companies blaming them for thinning ice.

The insanity is just beginning.  Don’t forget:  Democrats blocked Republican tort reform every time it was introduced during the 2000s.

Workers in energy intense industries like metals or manufacturing have been hit especially hard in recent rounds of job cuts.

Why would there be lots of job cuts in energy-intensive industries when energy costs are lower now than they were one year ago?  Let me thing about this for about 1/1000th of a second…

Jobs are being slashed in energy-intensive industries because of the Democrats’ plans for a cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions which is really nothing more than a carbon tax.  These carbon taxes are going to significantly raise the cost of doing business in these industries, so they are slashing jobs now in anticipation of those promised higher expenses, courtesy of the DFL.

This is unbelievably predictable; yet, Democrats are too dumb to see it.

Where are those jobs going?  Some are probably being cut for good.  As profits get pinched, either because of rising costs or declining revenues, the first thing businesses do is cut jobs.  A strong possibility is that many of these jobs are going to be outsourced overseas where the politicians are not as dumb as the American Democratic Party who are destroying their own country.

Multimillionaire fraud and massive polluter Al Gore testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the need for action against global warming today during a time when much of America is suffering from a harsher-than-normal winter.  Gore said that passing Obama’s stimulus plan would be a “down payment” on curbing global warming.

Remember, Al Gore is chairman and has an ownership stake in a company that was set up to trade carbon credits, Generation Investment Management, LLP.  If the Democrats enact their cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions, Al Gore is going to make many millions, if not billions of dollars.

You must realize what a fraud and hypocrite Al Gore truly is.  He doesn’t care about global warming.  His actions speak louder than his words.

Al Gore made a fortune on the speaking circuit giving speeches about global warming.  For a $100,000 speaking fee, Gore would fly out and speak to a group of people for 70-minutes, then conduct a short 10-minute question-and-answer session.  When Gore didn’t travel to these events by private jet, he demanded that first-class round-trip plane tickets be purchased for him, along with a luxury hotel suite so he could freshen-up before his presentation.

In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

Remember:  Al Gore has spoken out many times against greed and the rich, and the need for higher taxes to help the poor.  But he sure likes to live a lavish lifestyle, doesn’t he?  He doesn’t give much of his own money away to help the poor he pretends to care about, does he?  Nor does he put much effort into reducing his own carbon dioxide emissions.  First class air travel, energy-guzzling mansions, luxury hotel suites…  Al Gore knows how to live it up.

Only a fool could support Al Gore or give any credibility to anything he says given his hypocrisy.  If Al Gore truly cared about the environment, he wouldn’t be releasing so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere with his personal electricity and natural gas usage.  He wouldn’t be flying around on jets giving speeches about global warming and telling others to pollute less.

Most of all, if Al Gore truly cared about the environment, he wouldn’t charge people $100,000 for an hour worth of work to try and stop global warming.  He would be doing it for free.  After all, Al Gore is already rich.  He doesn’t need more money.  So if he cared about the environment, he would be spreading his message for free.  But he isn’t.

One more thing:  Al Gore excused his excessive pollution because he purchased carbon offsets.  Who did he purchase them from?  Himself!  He bought carbon offsets from Generation Investment Management, LLP, a company in which he has an ownership stake.

We have arrived at a moment of decision. Our home – Earth – is in grave danger. What is at risk of being destroyed is not the planet itself, of course, but the conditions that have made it hospitable for human beings.

Shhh!  Don’t tell Al Gore, but the year 2008 was significantly below average in temperature and we are in the middle of a colder-than-normal winter.  In fact, January has been 5.3 degrees Fahrenheit below average where I am.

Moreover, we must face up to this urgent and unprecedented threat to the existence of our civilization at a time when our country must simultaneously solve two other worsening crises.

The earth has warmed and cooled many times over the millennia, Albert.  It will continue to do so, you idiot.

As long as we continue to send hundreds of billions of dollars for foreign oil — year after year — to the most dangerous and unstable regions of the world, our national security will continue to be at risk.

We’re borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the planet. Every bit of that’s got to change.

Obama wants to borrow money from China to fund his bogus $825 billion stimulus plan, which is nothing more than give-aways to his supporters.  Gore doesn’t seem to be complaining about that.  I wonder why…

For years our efforts to address the growing climate crisis have been undermined by the idea that we must choose between our planet and our way of life; between our moral duty and our economic well being.

Al Gore isn’t even willing to make that choice, judging from how much energy his mansion uses and how much he travels to make more money for himself.

These are false choices. In fact, the solutions to the climate crisis are the very same solutions that will address our economic and national security crises as well.

In order to repower our economy, restore American economic and moral leadership in the world and regain control of our destiny, we must take bold action now.

Does anyone know if Al Gore spent millions of dollars to erect a windmill on his property?  Ah, he probably doesn’t want the beauty of the environment ruined by an ugly wind turbine on his property.  But that won’t stop him from trying to get ugly windmills built in Republican-voting areas.

Quickly building our capacity to generate clean electricity will lay the groundwork for the next major step needed: placing a price on carbon.

And how much would Al Gore have to pay for all the carbon dioxide he releases into the atmosphere?  Oh, I forgot, Gore is a liberal elitist.  We must do as he says, not as he does.  Liberals always exempt themselves from their mandates.

If Congress acts right away to pass President Obama’s Recovery package and then takes decisive action this year to institute a cap-and-trade system for CO 2 emissions – as many of our states and many other countries have already done – the United States will regain its credibility and enter the Copenhagen treaty talks with a renewed authority to lead the world in shaping a fair and effective treaty.

And Al Gore will make millions of dollars via his ownership stake in Generation Investment Management, LLP!  ($$$$)

Just the other day, some scientists concluded that global warming could not be stopped for at least a thousand years.  The conclusion was that we could curb CO₂ emissions, but it would have no impact on (mythical) global warming.

Global Warming Cannot Be Stopped

Even if by some miracle of environmental activism global carbon dioxide levels reverted to pre-industrial levels, it still would take 1,000 years or longer for the climate changes already triggered to be reversed, scientists said Monday.

Scientists that Al Gore uses to further his global warming agenda say that if carbon dioxide emissions reverted back to pre-industrial levels, that it would take 1,000 years or longer for climate changes to be reversed.  So, if there is nothing that can be done, why do Democrats insist that we burden individuals and industry with carbon taxes?

Because it is about control.  The solution to every real or perceived problem in the Democrats’ world is more wealth redistribution.  Even if nothing can be done to solve the supposed problem, such as with “climate change”, higher taxation is the answer.  And by taxing people and redistributing that money, Democrats achieve control over people.

Here’s a story about another shortsighted Democrat policy.  Democrats have been pushing biofuels the past few years as a way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and conserve fossil fuels.  The problem, as always, is that good intentions do not always mean good ideas.

In Minnesota, schools have had to close because of the cold weather.  They aren’t closing because it is too cold for the children to make it to school, they are closing because school buses aren’t running properly because of government-mandated usage of biodiesel fuel.

When it gets cold, biodiesel separates.  Part of the fuel clumps together and ends up clogging fuel filters.  This separation can occur at temperatures below 10 degrees Fahrenheit.  As of this writing, it is currently -20F in Minnesota.

Not only are schools having to close because buses won’t run, students are left stranded at bus stops in the cold waiting for buses that never come.

Democrats are wrong on yet another issue.  For whatever reason, the Democrat mind is not capable of critical thought.  Mandating the use of a fuel that separates in cold weather in a state known for cold weather is foolish, yet so typically Democrat.

Biodiesel School Bus Story

Where I am it was -18 degrees Fahrenheit this morning at 9 AM.  That’s right, it was eighteen below zero!

According to the local news, this is the coldest it has been the entire decade.  Last year was below average in temperature, too, with a cool spring and cooler than normal summer.

Whenever it gets cold, I am always reminded of that speech Al Gore gave about the horrors of global warming in New York a few years ago on a day when the area was experiencing near record low temperatures.  I’m sure if he was here where I am he would be insisting that global warming is real while he shivered.

Global warming is a hoax.  It is the biggest scam ever perpetuated on mankind.  Not surprisingly, Democrats and liberals are behind it.  The underlying goal of global warming hysteria is the same as every other Democratic Party plan: more wealth redistribution via taxation.

Funny, isn’t it, how the solution to every real or perceived problem we face according to the Democratic Party is more wealth redistribution?

The “average” global temperature–as if you could measure such a thing–was down in 2008.  The average temperature of the planet was 57.76 degrees Fahrenheit, or 14.31 degrees Celsius, down 1/10th of one degree Celsius over last year and down 21/100ths of a degree Celsius compared to 1998.  (Reuters Story.)  Despite the temperature being down, global warming advocates insist that we are still experiencing a warming trend.  And as you would imagine, the only possible solution to this global warming is: higher taxes.

Isn’t it amazing how scientists can calculate the average temperature of the entire atmosphere of the earth to a precision of 1/100th of a degree Celsius?  That must be trillions of cubic meters of atmosphere to be measured, and they can do it to an amazing degree of precision.  Right?  Wrong.

Global warming is the biggest scam ever pulled on mankind.  Climate change is real, but only because the climate is constantly changing.  Most of North America, including the land I live on now, was once covered by a giant glacier.  Nobody complained about polar bears dying when the glaciers receded, did they?

Average Global Temperature Not Meaningful

Discussions on global warming often refer to ‘global temperature.’ Yet the concept is thermodynamically as well as mathematically an impossibility, says Bjarne Andresen, a professor at The Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.

“It is impossible to talk about a single temperature for something as complicated as the climate of Earth”, Bjarne Andresen says, an expert of thermodynamics. “A temperature can be defined only for a homogeneous system. Furthermore, the climate is not governed by a single temperature. Rather, differences of temperatures drive the processes and create the storms, sea currents, thunder, etc. which make up the climate”.

This notion that there is 100% consensus among scientists that global warming is caused by man is completely untrue.  The earth has warmed and cooled many times over the millennia, and it will continue to do so regardless of human activity.

Scientists who attempt to measure the average temperature of the earth do so using a sample as it is not possible to measure the temperature of the climate at trillions of different data points.  With any sample, there is going to be a statistical margin of error.  What is the margin of error for the average temperature sample?  That information is never divulged.  A statistical average is never supposed to be used as an absolute, as global warming advocates are trying to do.  A statistical average is a descriptor that may or may not be accurate within the margin of error.  Think of political polls and how often they are wrong.

Furthermore, the climate is very complex and largely random.  It cannot be modeled to a high degree of precision because nature does not operate according to a mathematical model.  Solar activity and even the activity in the earth’s molten core can contribute to changes in earth’s temperature.

If scientists can’t accurately predict the temperature in a certain location to within one degree 24 hours from now, how can they predict the temperature of the entire planet 50 or 100 years into the future?  They can’t.  Try explaining that to a liberal!

Ms. Crow has been an outspoken advocate for action on global warming. She even went so far as to propose limitations on the amount of toilet paper people should use every time they use the toilet. She and her buddy, Laurie David, harassed Karl Rove about global warming at the 2007 White House Correspondents Dinner, in typical low class liberal fashion.

Sheryl Crow is now on a world tour. That’s right, she cares so much about global warming that she’s flying all over the world promoting her new album and going on a concert tour. Over 50 dates have been scheduled as of this writing in the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Germany, France, and other countries.

How is Ms. Crow going to get to all those places? Will the travels of herself and her entourage and equipment create carbon dioxide emissions? Yes they will.

Sheryl Crow hit it big well over a decade ago. She must have amassed a fortune of tens-of-millions of dollars from her royalties and previous tours by now. She’s already rich. She doesn’t need to make more money. But that won’t stop her from creating tons of pollution so she can travel around singing her crappy songs.

Planes, tour buses, hotel rooms, fans driving to the stadium–we are talking about massive amounts of global warming causing pollution being released into the atmosphere because of this tour. And all of it is completely unnecessary. Society would continue to function just fine if Ms. Crow didn’t tour.

Ms. Crow thinks that average folks like you and me should do more about global warming up to and including paying punitive carbon taxes. But her actions speak louder than her meaningless words.

Sheryl Crow’s top ticket prices are around $80 in many cities. To further demonstrate what a complete liberal fraud she is, she is donating a whopping $1 from each ticket sale to the UN World Food program. What will she do with the other $79 per ticket? After paying expenses, I suspect the rest of it will go into her already bulging bank account.

It’s a good thing we have Ms. Crow and her incredibly inflated sense of self importance to tell us to pollute less while she goes on a world tour. We should all do exactly as she says, not as she does. Right?

A California state lawmaker has proposed a law requiring climate change to be taught in schools. This strategy is designed to indoctrinate the young before their brains have fully developed and scare them into believing something that isn’t true.

The problem with global warming is that the science is not there to suggest it is the result of man. How is it possible to precisely measure the temperature of the environment to within 1/100th of a degree at each of the trillions of different data points in the earth’s atmosphere? It isn’t. Global warming theories are the result of models. But the world does not operate according to models. The world is much too dynamic and too random to be described by models created by liberals.

According to NASA temperature anomaly data, the warmest years in the United States were during the 1930s. Not only that, but it was warmer from 1998 – 2001 than from 2002 – 2005; it was warmer in 1900 than in 2000. That’s not global warming, that’s global cooling! The average temperature anomaly has gone down!

The fact of the matter is that it is not possible to accurately determine the temperature of a vast planet like earth. The recorded temperature data is nothing more than a sample, probably not even random, and the differences in temperature are small, insignificant.

Al Gore is now claiming that any dissent in the scientific community regarding global warming is the result of a campaign of disinformation funded by polluters. Gore said the following:

There has been an organized campaign, financed to the tune of about $10 million a year from some of the largest carbon polluters, to create the impression that there is disagreement in the scientific community. In actuality, there is very little disagreement.”

Where does Al Gore get his information? What is his source for his $10 million claim? This sounds like Hillary Clinton’s “vast right-wing conspiracy” theory of several years ago.

Al Gore is one of the largest individual polluters in the world! Gore lives in three mansions, one of which uses 20 times the amount of energy as the average American home! Gore, an already-filthy-stinking-rich man, flies all over the world–sometimes in massively-polluting private jets–giving presentations about global warming–and charging $100,000 – $175,000 for an hour-and-a-half of work!

What an absolute fraud! How can any brain-dead fool support Al Gore or believe anything he says given his nauseating hypocrisy?

Al Gore doesn’t need to fly all over the world giving slideshow presentations about climate change–not in our information age. Anything he could possibly say could be said on a website.

Gore flies all over the world pumping thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere with each trip so he can make himself even richer. The personal appearance is the reason Gore gets paid, not the “information” he shares.

Gore and all this global warming nonsense is about money ($$$). Gore wants to make as much of it as possible. Democrats want to steal it from taxpayers. The notion of global warming is the means to an end for these dirty frauds and liars.

How the hell can any thinking person give any credibility to anything Al Gore says? The man is a fraud!

It seems that some scientists are starting to believe that crops can alter the weather. Oh, really? I thought scientists knew everything there is to know about the environment. Al Gore sure acts like everything is known for certain, right down to telling us how to live our lives (while he pollutes and pollutes and pollutes and makes tons of money).

Al Gore is a liberal fraud of the worst kind. He spreads hysteria and lies and positions himself to financially benefit from it. Al Gore is making money hand-over-fist from this global warming nonsense.

I mean, if it wasn’t enough that he flies around the world in private jets to give talks about global warming–for which he is handsomely compensated, and if it wasn’t enough that his one home used 20 times the amount of electricity as the average home, will a series of unnecessary, massively polluting concerts be enough to convince left-wingers of what a joke Al Gore is? I doubt it.

The next time I read an article from a star-struck liberal desperate for Gore to run for President because he is the only one who can save the world I am going to be sick.
