Immigration Bill Killed On Cloture Vote

The Democrat-favoring Amnesty For Illegal Aliens Bill Of 2007 (S. 1639) was killed on a cloture vote today in the United States Senate.

The vote was 46 for and 53 against ending debate so the bill could move forward. Sixty votes are required for cloture. (Roll Call Vote)

Of the Democrats, 34 voted for (including former Democrat, now Independent, Lieberman) and 15 Democrats voted against; Democrat-leaning Socialist Sanders (Independent) also voted against.

Of the Republicans, 12 voted for, 37 against. Among the Republican traitors voting for are:

Bennett (R-UT)
Craig (R-ID)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hagel (R-NE)
Kyl (R-AZ)
Lott (R-MS)
Lugar (R-IN)
Martinez (R-FL)
McCain (R-AZ)
Snowe (R-ME)
Specter (R-PA)

Both Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama voted for.

Opening up the floodgates to uneducated, unskilled immigrants and rewarding lawbreakers is a terrible idea. Of course, Democrats would benefit greatly as they have a lock on the underclass vote. Uneducated people love Democrats.

Democrats received roughly 60% of the Hispanic vote in 2004. That share rose to about 70% in the 2006 election, largely as a result of Republican opposition to amnesty for illegal immigrants–most of whom are Hispanic.

so are you also calling your president a traitor? he supported this bill-just wondering. You are so funny with your name DFL trying to mimick and capitalize on the popularity of another site (C&L’s). You sir are a troll.

  2. DFL Says:

Yup, I would call George W. Bush a traitor over the immigration amnesty plan he supported.

The war isn’t the only reason his popularity (or that of Congress) is so low.

By the way, I had never heard of that delusional, left-wing group masturbation site C&L until after I started mine.

It’s just so sickening what absolute, delusional, irrational morons Democrat supporters are that I felt the need to make a couple of comments to set you idiots straight.

Now, tell us: how does raising taxes create jobs? That’s all you Democrats want to do, anyway.

  3. P Anderson Says:

so Bush is a part time traitor
    should he only serve weekends?

  4. P Anderson Says:

bush is using credit to fight this war. I guess your ok with it because it will be our grandchildren who pay those taxes - not you.
Yeah you are doing a heck of a job correcting us “delusional idiots” I so enjoy our piviate chats…..but am I real or just a delusion?

  5. DFL Says:

The cost of the Iraq War is a TINY fraction of the cost of providing Medicare to elderly people who have a foot in the grave. Medicare is something $500 billion per year–every year–and growing faster than the growth in GDP.

Now, look at the economic cost of 9/11. That cost TRILLIONS in direct costs and indirect economic costs. The War in Iraq is a drop in the bucket compared to 9/11.

But, look who I’m talking to. You left-wingers wanted to raise taxes during the economic downturn of 2001 and 2002. The only thing you understand about economics is stealing money from people who earn it and giving it to those who didn’t.

How many trillions have been spent on that DFL failure of a war on poverty? Hmmm? That’s nothing but Democrat vote buying. Democrats pay people to sit on their fat asses all day long when they should be out being productive. And every time you look, Democrats are proposing more welfare.

How long until you left-wingers realize your failures? Democrat strongholds are nothing but hellholes of crime and violence. How many people will be murdered this weekend in Democrat land? How many drive-by shootings will take place in DFL communities? How many innocent bystanders need to be killed by stray bullets before you realize the error of your ways??? Hmmm?

Baltimore is a DFL stronghold. Check out the murder rate there. Or DC, New Orleans, Chicago, LA, Murderapolis… Democrat voters killing Democrat voters… Priceless!

Bush’s work on the economy was great given the decline he inherited. The stock market started its decline in March 2000 and layoffs jumped in Q4 2000 as well. Tax cuts are exactly what the economy needed, and Democrats fought against them.

Bush also showed great leadership ability after 9/11. Has Bush bungled in Iraq? Absolutely. However, you and I will not agree on what he did wrong. Bush, in my opinion, was not aggressive enough.

When you let terrorists take sanctuary in a mosque and do nothing to kill them, it makes everything that much tougher.

One more thing: in case you are one of those left-wingers who insists that “Bush lied”, take a look at all the Democrat Iraq quotes. I’ll be adding more, shortly.

Democrats claimed Saddam was a threat with WMDs and potentially with nuclear weapons long before Bush was elected. But you are probably too delusional to acknowledge the truth when the evidence is right in front of your face.

  6. P Anderson Says:

I take it your answer is yes to part time traitor. Isn’t that just like being a little pregnaunt? Yes Democrats aknowledged the danger Saddam could pose but we suggessted a different way of handleing him. Oh did you forget who helped make him a threat? I will give you a clue-Iran-Contra. Maybe Ollie North is just a delusion. Damn I gave you another clue.

  7. DFL Says:

Yes, my answer is that Bush is a part-time traitor.

George W. Bush is no conservative. No conservative in his right mind would allow amnesty for MILLIONS of uneducated, unskilled illegal immigrants and allow them to bring MILLIONS more family members, giving the Democratic Party 30 - 50 million new current and future voters.

“Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons…

The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government…”
    President Bill Clinton, Dec. 1998
